MERRY CHRISTMAS - MUNCHEN

Well if this just couldn't get better for the Muru's we woke this Christmas morning to a gentle dusting of snow. Very cold but we are finding it refreshing and such a joy (besides good acclimatisation for UK). We must all still be on LA time or maybe just excited about Christmas as we were up by 6am. We opened the only presents we had from home form the Muru's so that was neat. Sharon decided we should all go down to the pool for a morning dip which was refreshing and a good idea. Following this we went to breakfast in the Restaurant. The Muru's must still be in Denny's mode cause we turned the smorgasbord into an eating competition. We loved the German sausages, breads, and french toast. Straight after breakfast we decided to do a walking tour of Munich. What a beautiful city. The age of architecture and its history is absolutely amazing. No "leaky buildings" here. The size and scale of some of the statues and monuments is huge (even though I thought they may be trying to compensate for something). the Glockenspiel at Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) in Marienplatz was a highlight we should have stuck around for Mid day though to see it operating. Sharon really enjoyed the Englischer Garten or English Garden (as if you needed a translation). Its a bit like the "Central Park "of Munich didn't do it for me though. Paraone and Ngahuia loved the lions dotted all over the city not sure of their significance but will post it in a later page. We're off on the Castle tour tomorrow apparently the one that Walt Disney modeled his one on is part of the tour , so we're looking forward to that. Bus leaves 7.30am (another early day) and we don't get back until 6pm (another long day) just as well we're still loving it.

tonight we had a special Christmas smorgasbord dinner in the Hotel restaurant. Huge feed again we will need to do lengths in the pool tomorrow instead of just playing.
